While we were on our way to Mazaar-e-Quaid (mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan) we were passing by my school, Gulistan Shah Abdul Latif Bhittia School (aka Gulistan School) and I could not resist the urge to pull our car to the side and take a couple of snaps. Once I took photos I thought why shouldn't I just drop by my school and bring the kids and the wife to show them my school. We went to the entrance gate and found out that the ceremony for the independence day was just concluded and the staff along with the students have already left for home. But guess what, guards were still there and I immediately recognised their faces and to put this into the proper context, they have been working there for at least 30 years. So I exchanged pleasantries and asked whether I could show my kids the classrooms, assembly hall, canteen and the corridor, all the places which are still registered in my mind even after the passange of 30 years. The most interesting part of this is that I was exactly Aqeel's age when I first went to the school and we were the first batch inducted into the Kindergarden. Furthermore I still feel scared to go near Mrs. William's office, our headmistress at primary school. Now Mrs. Williams is retired and live in Canada with the family. At her place Miss Talat is now the headmistress. She was my first teacher at the school and I still remember that how polite she was in the class towards us. I still have the good memories of the canteen, we used to buy the bun kabab (burger) and I still have the craving for that bun kakab. During the lunch break we used to go plead with "canteen uncle" that it is already our turn to get our bun kabab. By the way at that time our bun kabab used to cost us 0.25 Rupee (0.0and by the time we left the primary section to the secondary school it was already 0.50 Rupee. I wonder how much does it cost now. One day I will go and buy a couple of them. While going up the steps I realised that how short they were purposely made to avoid any accident. Furthermore the desks in the classroom as still the same what they used to be during my time and now I realize that how durable they are. All these things are still registered in my mind!
